QuickBooks and 2009 Update R9; IMPORTANT INFO

Notice to all QuickBooks Pro/Premiere 2009 customers: this notice is to help you successfully install Release 9 (R9) — the latest release for your QuickBooks 2009 software.

The QuickBooks R9 release is unlike other releases: both your program and data files will need to be updated. This is particularly important if you have QuickBooks installed on more than one computer. We know some of you have called Intuit's support line and had to wait to get help, so we want to give you the self-help instructions so you can update your product yourself, and get back to your business.

Special Guidelines for Installing R9

Intuit created a step-by-step guide with detailed instructions for installing the update. You may access the guide at www.quickbooks.com/R9.

1.     This update needs to be installed on all computers that have QuickBooks. You must be an administrator on each computer on which you install QuickBooks R9. If you do not install the update on all computers with QuickBooks, users may not be able to open the company file in QuickBooks.

2.     You must log in as the QuickBooks administrator the first time you open the company file after installing QuickBooks R9. If you do not have or know your administrator login and password, instructions for recovering it are available on the QuickBooks support site.

3.     If you work with an accountant, please make sure that you and your accountant have both successfully installed R9.
