Bravo! Award Winner Sees Green
By Rich Guy Miller, Staff Writer from The North County Voice
2009, Bravo! Signature Award Winner and Green Community Award nominee Colleen Connery is a prized member of the San Diego community. Colleen’s emphasis on community and empowering women is what made her an ideal candidate for two awards presented by the National Association of Women Business Owners this year.
Colleen’s office on 9320 Chesapeake Drive in San Diego is unassuming and project focused, if you don’t count the greeting party composed of two precious rescued pups, Rocco and Eli.
Her graphic arts business includes web design, promotional materials and packaging. Her attitude is straight forward, “Now, how can we help you?” This is not asked simply because she has multiple graphic design solutions; it’s because of her extensive network of professionals that she has identified as superior. Those who know Colleen call her frequently just to find out who’s the best in San Diego. And because she only promotes the finest she knows, that information is gold.
But she would rather it be green. Going green with sustainable business principles are Colleen’s passions. Her website, www.cocoassociates.com, clearly explains at least six different ways CoCo & Associates is advancing the green ethic -- including recycled paper, soy based inks, paper reduction, five-gallon bottles of filtered water instead of individual water bottles, digital billing, etc. And the effort isn’t just about conservation; it’s about saving her clients some money.
Return on investment is central to Colleen’s graphic design and marketing strategies. Her experience with Fortune 500 companies has honed her talents and given her a smart perspective on what works in business. Commonly, CoCo & Associates is able to deliver branding, advertising, printing or public relations under budget. Her record of on-time delivery of web design and artwork also keeps her clients returning and recommending.

Her 2009 Bravo! Award is postive proof that these aren’t simply slogans or self-promotion. The Signature Award states, “In special recognition of exceptional service and dedication to the communities of San Diego through consistency, persistence and ethical and sound business practices for at least 10 years.”
