GREAT YEAR!
Ivey Ranch students run from San Diego to Paris, France (without getting wet)
Congratulations are in order for the students of Ivey Ranch Elementary School who over the course of the 2008/2009 school year ran from San Diego (USA) to Paris (France) and back! (11,400 miles) Way to go TEAM IVEY! (this is conservative; I believe they ran farther based on what I know was not counted during "run with your teacher time"!)
Over 60% of the student body actively participated in our before school running program this year on the schools new track. 385 out of 600 first through fifth graders voluntarily showed up 30 minutes before class to run laps and jump start their brains for a day of learning! The 2nd and 3rd graders ruled the roost with over 80% getting "off their seat and moving their feet"....much thanks to the support and encouragement of their teaching teams. We love our teachers!!!
28 students became "100 milers" - 3 of those reached the amazing level of "200 miler"! All of this within a combined 5 month timeframe as our track was closed for repairs from Jan - Mar. Imagine how many will be in the 100 mile and 200 mile club next year when we run for a full school year???
Ivey Ranch Elementary School and the Oceanside Unified School District are amazing advocates of all kinds of physical activity for our youth. Our organization is constantly working to find ways to make physical activity AND physical EDUCATION a priority in our childrens lives.

This next school year we are going to run around the world - and EVERY elementary school in this great nation should have the opportunity to run with us. "IF WE BUILD IT THEY WILL RUN". Let's build some more....
