"I don't like my website."
Have you said this? Have you heard others say that about their website?
Seriously, does it really matter if YOU like your website? Not really. Obviously it would be nice of you did not "hate" your website, but if the website is "doing it's job" would you really care? (Assuming you have read "Mistake #1 and you know WHY you have a website.)
It is common for many company sites to focused on "the company". Home pages filed with pictures of company executives, company logos, pictures of their own building, verbose mission statements, corporate history, and a self serving statement from the CEO beaming from a professionally created picture.
All of this is great on the “about us” page, but never on the home page. Remember that your company is not usually what the customer is interested in. You are the drill, - they want to buy a hole.
Your site should be designed with your customers’ needs in mind and not to pat yourself on the back with how great your company is. Therefore, mistake number two is:
