We understand that most businesses have a limited marketing budget.   Everyone needs to have a plan to be smart about how to maket their business.  Internet marketing can be very costly if you want to see dramatic results, and printed materials can add up as well.

Before we get into the top 10 ways to promote your business there are 3 concepts that you must understand:

  1. HAVE A PLAN - you need to have goals and a plan on how you are going to accomplish them.  If you don't have a plan you will be WASTING YOUR MONEY.
  2. HAVE A BUDGET - if you don't know what you can afford or what you are willing to invest to get new business then you can not put together an effective plan.
  3. If you can't get past 1. and 2. then you will never be able to market your business effectively.

  1. Make sure your meta tags on your website are up-to-date.
  2. Make sure that you have done the free submission to Google, Yahoo! and MSN search engines.
  3. Network with other companies in your field and see if they will link to your website.
  4. Add yourself to any online directories.  There are a lot of free ones out there.
  5. Do press releases about your company news.  Send it to online PR hubs and to all local newspapers.
  6. Go to local networking events.
  7. Network with other business that can send you referrals
  8. Start an email campaign - newsletter, tips, resources, etc.
  9. Join online communities within your industry.  Read and respond to blogs.  Groups on Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.
  10. Join a networking group, trade associations and clubs.  Make long lasting relationships with other business owners in the community.
