Google Places (formally Google Local Business) is a great way for you to promote your business through Google. By creating a Google Places account for your business you will come up when people do local searches. (You may have noticed a map at the top of some of your searches with place markers for businesses in the area that fit your request.)

You will need to log into your Google account or create one if you don't have one already. After that just follow the instructions Google gives you to customize your profile. You will need to verify your business information before it is active. Google gives you two choices either by mail or phone.
Once you have created your accout you can log in and view states on who visited your profile and what they looked at.
